REV IEW Functions of microRNAs and related small RNAs in plants
نویسندگان
چکیده
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs (siRNAs), 20to 27-nt in length, are essential regulatory molecules that act as sequence-specific guides in several processes in most eukaryotes (with the notable exception of the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae). These processes include DNA elimination, heterochromatin assembly, mRNA cleavage and translational repression. This review focuses on the regulatory roles of plant miRNAs during development, in the adaptive response to stresses and in the miRNA pathway itself. This review also covers the regulatory roles of two classes of endogenous plant siRNAs, ta-siRNAs and nat-siRNAs, which participate in post-transcriptional control of gene expression.

Effects of microRNAs polymorphism in cancer progression
MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are known as a new class of small RNAs (18-25 nucleotides) that regulate gene expression at multiple levels from transcription to translation. Considering the important role of miRNAs in cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis, any variations in their expression can contribute to various anomalies, such as tumorigenesis. Single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) have ...
متن کاملCommon functions for diverse small RNAs of land plants.
Endogenous small RNAs, including microRNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs (siRNAs), are critical components of plant gene regulation. Some abundant miRNAs involved in developmental control are conserved between anciently diverged plants, while many other less-abundant miRNAs appear to have recently emerged in the Arabidopsis thaliana lineage. Using large-scale sequencing of small RNAs, we ...
متن کاملMicroRNAs as a New Molecular Biomarker for Diagnosis and Prognosis of T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (T-ALL): A Systematic Review
MicroRNAs (miRNAs, miRs) are small endogenous non-coding RNAs that regulate the expression of protein-encoding genes at the post-transcriptional level. Several studies have described the role of miRNAs in T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), including tumor suppressor and oncogenic miRNAs. Down-regulation of miRNA expression is a prominent feature of human malignancy. This down-regulati...

Objective(s): MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a subfamily of small noncoding RNAs that play a variety of roles in regulating gene expression in nearly all organisms. They affect different biological pathways by post-transcriptionally regulating mRNAs. Aside from miRNAs’ role in maintaining cellular homeostasis, their perturbation is related to several pathologic states and dis...
متن کاملMolecular Mechanisms of RNA-Triggered Gene Silencing Machineries
Gene silencing by RNA triggers is an ancient, evolutionarily conserved, and widespread phenomenon. This process, known as RNA interference (RNAi), occurs when double-stranded RNA helices induce cleavage of their complementary mRNAs. Because these RNA molecules can be introduced exogenously as small interfering RNAs (siRNAs), RNAi has become an everyday experimental tool in laboratory research. ...
